‘oh my god, he responded, how do I try and make myself the victim’

    2. qwerty_1965 on

Who’s he appealing to? Cranks, extremists, people who vote on foreign issues which are irrelevant to local council business.

Made himself completely unelectable this past week.

      Great news.

I don’t have strong opinions on him one way or the other but this all strikes me as exceptionally bad politics. Like not only has he fucked up, he seems absolutely determined to keep it in the news cycle

So the leader of the Greens has given his two pence on a matter in which he has zero experience. Making statements on how he thinks a terrorist suspect in the middle of an attack should be arrested, he is now complaining that he was put straight. Still, the Chief of the Met is now whining about it, stating he is breaching the neutrality rule of Policing?

I do not see why he thought it would be a good Idea to give armchair police advice. Any time MPs do this, they always end up being wrong and do not have the full facts, but what to get some clout in the moment

He’s correct. This is a blatant interference, you’ll notice at no point has he ever written to Farage about his two tier claims.

This is on the back of arresting Green candidates despite no such arrears being made of Reform or Tory ones for similar levels of comments or worse.

The open letter from the chief wasn’t about election interference. It was publicly defending the officers that Polanski publicly attacked.

It’s likely cost Green some moderate votes but that’s on him.

I love the mental gymnastics from his loyal buffoons excusing everything he does.

I don’t think I have grown to despise a party leader as fast as Polanski, and there have been some doozies recently

    10. schwillton on

An awful lot of these kinds of posts lately with noun-noun-fourdigit accounts replying and reaching the top comments. Are these accounts paid for by labour or reform or both?

    11. CensorTheologiae on

He’s damn right to. The police are subject to purdah. Rowley was free to write a private letter – but to publish it during purdah is an obvious breach, and possibly illegal canvassing.

    12. PabloMarmite on

There’s something almost Trumpian about how much Polanski and his supporters really, really hate any criticism.

    13. FlamingoOk3026 on

Don’t think he’s earning the greens any brownie points here. When your in a hole stop digging

    14. Mangeytwat on

He’s achieving one significant thing – he’s building a brand. Far more people are going to know who he is now compared to a week ago.

It’s the problem the lib Dems have had for…ages (since clegg) no one even knows who they are because the media won’t talk about them. Turns out all you need to do is ragebait.

    15. While I don’t disbelieve they’re going harder on Zack than they would on Nigel Farage it’s not “election interference” to call out your dumb comments regardless of how close we are to any elections.

Zack how do you fall off so hard so quickly

    16. TheAdequateKhali on

I never thought he’d realistically ever be in power, but he’s really fucked himself this week. Incredibly shortsighted on optics alone.

    17. HotMachine9 on

This will be his gimmick for the next few years.

Constantly criticise the police trying to protect innocent people, making it out like we live in America.

Police already are at their breaking points, operating in impossible budgets, under intense scrutiny, and when they tackle terrorism you now have this grifter accusing anyone who dares to protect officers upholding the law of election interference.

Im not saying the police shouldn’t be scrutinised. But I also think it is incredibly dangerous to make it so countering terrorism is now controversial. In this case people were at very serious risk of being killed. How on earth is the police using aggression to apprehended a suspect to protect victims and other officers controversial here I do not know.

So long as Polanski is in charge I will never vote green.

    18. zippyzebra1 on

He should have stuck with making tits bigger. We’d all vote for that

    19. Ancient-Function4738 on

How the fuck did Polanski think being a terrorist sympathiser would improve his public image of having the deadly combination of being a lunatic and having low intelligence.

    20. Whoknowsknows1962 on

Just to think, a few months ago people were complaining that he doesn’t get as much airtime as other party leaders. Are you happy now?

    21. Uniform764 on

It’s like he watched Corbyn be handed rope and choose to hang himself rather than shutting the fuck up and thought “that’s a brilliant strategy, I should copy it”

I mean I’m fine with it as he’s a fuckwit and half his parties policies are certifiably insane, but it amazes me that people can become the leader of national political parties with no idea of how to be pragmatic or keep their head down when they need to
