Submit your European produced short film by August 11 for a chance to screen at Scanorama in November. Winners will be announced at the festival closing ceremony.

    Submissions are open for the Scanorama short-film competition, in the “Best Short Film” category, which will take place in November this year in Lithuania.

    According to the State Film Agency, the submission process has already started and runs until the specified dates.

    Rules and Conditions for Participation

    • The headquarters of the principal production company must be in a European country;
    • The film’s running time must be up to 30 minutes;
    • The film must have been shot within the last two years;
    • The director must not have a debut feature film (the number of short films is not limited);
    • Genres: narrative/fiction, documentary, animation, and experimental cinema;
    • No public screenings in Lithuania and no free online access;
    • The film version must not be substantially altered after the announcement of the selection results.

    If we talk about the competition program “Views of Europe,” the Scanorama curators select up to 23 titles.

    Winners are determined by an independent international jury, and awards are presented during the festival’s official closing ceremony.

    Applications from producers, directors, or production companies are accepted until August 11.

    More details about the competition regulations can be found on the official Scanorama resources and the State Film Agency.

    The State Film Agency emphasizes that Scanorama, founded in 2003 as the Northern Film Forum, has become one of Lithuania’s leading film festivals. Each year the festival presents over 100 titles from the programs of Berlin, Cannes, and Venice, attracting about 30,000 spectators.

    The call for submissions continues, so participants have the opportunity to submit works by the stated date. After submissions close, the festival will continue to develop the program, and the winners will be announced at the closing ceremony.
