Lesotho’s Parliament claims the South African Province of the Free State. What do you think would be the outcome if this transfer of land is permitted in the future?

The Free State Province in South Africa is majority Basotho. These are the same people as the majority of Lesotho. Before colonization these lands were all united, which is where this claim originates from.

The outcome will be Lesotho finding itself on the recieving end of “regime change” from South Africa which invaded and occupied them in 1998.

Good to know where the next regional conflict is likely to be…

There is no way for Lesotho to enforce this claim and no major power would be interested in backing them. I get the principle and the historical justification but it’s most likely just symbolic and no one will actually try to change anything about the status quo
