29th anniversary of the fall, Kurti to Luan Haradinaj: Glory to the lion of Kosovo’s freedom

Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti commemorated May 6, 1997, the 29th anniversary of the martyrdom of Luan Haradinaj for the liberation of Kosovo.

Kurti, in a Facebook post, described the critical day when 23-year-old Luani was killed while fighting bravely.

On May 6, 1997, a group of fighters from the Kosovo Liberation Army, equipped with weapons and ammunition, were traveling through the border strip, to enter from Albania into Kosovo. At the head of their line was Luan Haradinaj, a young man of only 23 years old, but very active in organizing the armed resistance of the Albanians against the criminal regime of the occupying Serbia in Kosovo. No one knew that for Luan, it would be the last time he would walk in those harsh regions of the Albanian mountains, through which, during the last four years, he had passed so many times. Near the Yugoslav border, which had been violently established between the Albanians, on the road from the village of Vlahne e Hasit towards Kuzhini, in Qafëmullar, the group was ambushed by the Yugoslav military border patrol. Luan Haradinaj was killed while fighting on foot, bravely! He was martyred in the relentless struggle of the Albanian nation for the liberation of Kosovo.
