What are you meant to do with that kind of person? Prison forever seems pointless, I’m against capital punishment as a rule, and I don’t see how they could
be rehabilitated into society.

He wasn’t killed because of his crimes. That ‘nonces get killed in prison’ isn’t true. There are 10s of thousands of sex offenders in prison who never get beat up or even touched.

I was a volunteer in HMP Parc during Watkins first incarceration. I never met him but it was well known he was a complete knobhead. The staff hated him, the other inmates hated him (he had to be kept in protective custody for his own safety – even other sex offenders would try to attack him).

It was also well known Watkins was rich. Wealthy people are a target in prison as prisoners can hit them up for protection money and drugs and all sorts, with money changing hands outside of prison via families.

Plus, the prison Watkins was in is known as ‘Monster Mansion’. It’s not a normal prison. Everyone there is a proper hardcore lifer or violent offender – the worst of the worst, as they say.

So, Watkins didn’t get killed by some noble prisoner – no, he was killed by a psycho, probably over a shakedown attempt and Watkins own abrasive personality didn’t help.
