Every year, on 9 May, we celebrate Europe Day, commemorating the signing of the ‘Schuman Declaration‘ on 9 May 1950. The declaration was an ambitious plan to secure long-term peace in post-war Europe and is considered the beginning of what is now the EU.
If you are in Luxembourg, we invite you to join the Europe Day event tomorrow, 10 May, in the Wiltz Castle. You can visit Eurostat’s information stand between 11:00 and 18:00 (CEST).
We will also take part in the Brussels event today, on 9 May, from 10:00 to 18:00 (CEST) in the Berlaymont building, the seat of the European Commission. To mark the occasion, many EU institutions – namely the European Parliament, the European Council and the European Commission – will open their doors to the public.
