It’s out of their jurisdiction as soon as their feet get wet, apparently. 🥴

(Tbh I don’t think they’re that bothered, in the same way the UK isn’t if they decide to head for Ireland.)

says the family, including their baby, has been sleeping out in the
      cold.

Should be prosecuted for recklessly endangering his child.

    3. Not sure we expected more. France is happy for the people to go and British tax money paid for the police to watch them leave. It’s a perfect result all round. In no way contrary to any agreement that the UK and France might have made to stop this and in no way helping the people smugglers.

Anyone that reckons the people of France, including French police officers.. are bothered about these people coming to the UK are off their heads. They want them out of their country.

In the years to come we’ll find out that these officers were stood on the beaches with signs happily pointing them our way.

Isn’t it a shame that french fisherman aren’t in charge of this…. They seem to think the whole channel is theirs.

Are Sky a bunch of idiots or do they think their readers are? Maritime law does not come into effect until they are 12 miles of shore.

Within the territorial waters all laws of their respective apply, and can be enforced by any territorial law enforcement agency.

“We arrive at the beach at about 4am. There is a beautiful orange sunset on the way”

      Quality journalism.

Wouldn’t it be great to actually have a British government that just patrolled the English channel with every available navy vessel & border force vessel towing them into French waters whatever the international hand wringing consequences are.

If legal loopholes allow it they’re wrong

The joke if russia wanted to invade the UK ever (or just do a sabotage action) they could just laugh and launch some dinghies and noone would stop them.
