The Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, H.E. Shalva Papuashvili Met with the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Malta, Dr. Angelo Farrugia LL.D in Budva, where the first summit of the Speakers of Parliaments of member and partner states of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean is being held.
During the meeting, the parties discussed:
Bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Georgia and Malta; Strengthening interparliamentary relations;
The importance of regional platforms amid international instability;
The protection of the rules-based international order.
Shalva Papuashvili positively assessed the relations between Georgia and Malta and warmly recalled his official visit to Malta in 2023. He also emphasized Malta’s special role in safeguarding the rules-based international order and underlined the importance of continuing dialogue.
The Speaker of Parliament expressed gratitude for the Republic of Malta’s support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The parties also highlighted the significance of the activities of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean in promoting regional cooperation.
The meeting was held within the framework of the first summit of the Speakers of Parliaments of member and partner countries of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean.
The Georgian parliamentary delegation, led by Shalva Papuashvili in his capacity as President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, also includes Irakli Mezurnishvili, Head of the Delegation of the Parliament of Georgia to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation.
