Those are regular balconies, just built between apartment buildings, not protruding from/in to facade as they usually do. Not shared, often used like extra storage space for old furniture/sports equipment/etc. Quite common in Soviet houses.

Maybe you can comment on theese rooftop big Windows. From what I read, in Soviet times they were painters work space. But now what are they? Apartments with extra large windows or what?
