I was on Grafton Street the other day, and heard a few Yanks muttering why so many Indians live here. The irony is many of them are naturalised Irish, who contribute to society, or were born here, whilst a few bellend tourists believe they’re Irish due to their ancestor from the 1500s.
I don’t want that shite here. It’s cancer.
To quote 2018 winner Kirsten Mate Maher “There is no ‘typical Irish woman’. We’re all different and we all come in all shapes and sizes and skin colours… We’re such a diverse community, and we need to embrace that”
What the fuck is so wrong with this country where we a) have a shitty minority with such a loud voice trying to gatekeep an event like the rose of tralee, and b) neanderthal’s hacks that help amplify fringe voices by making it part of national news instead of just celebrating her achievement. This isn’t a beauty pageant, the winner is picked based on Irish heritage or ancestry, personality and should be a good role-model for Ireland. As a naturalised citizen I was told by many people I couldn’t be fully Irish because I wasn’t born and raised here and now even that isn’t good enough for these knuckledraggers.

I cannot understand why anyone would have an issue with her in the competition skin colour has nothing to do with it she is more Irish than 60% of the other participants!

Cyclone from Gladiators is from Bray. Talks mostly about being Irish. Its great to see people being proud of this tiny country. I noticed the ones who complained usually are English football crazy. Holiday in other countries but hate foreigners if brown/black.

I will await the inevitable backlash, but all I can say is I see nothing here among these comments but suicidal empathy. Check out the comments under any facebook post from a local newspaper anywhere around the country when the article is about people who live in the area who are not white Irish. It’s absolutely disgusting. Homophobia is rampant there too.
Also, I don’t know how non-white people deal with the amount of racist comments posted on any video they post on tiktok. It’s disgusting and shameful.
I see a smart, articulate and beautiful young Irish woman. I am very proud of our young Irish people.
