Everything about the elections in one place

I had a good chat with Gunna Dís and Atli Fannar the morning radio yesterday morning about the page I created and have been managing before the elections https://dyogräðiveislan.is

I’m going to vote for the first time in the city and realized that it was really a big research project to find out what a big deal it is to get a comprehensive overview of what is available in each municipality.

I set up the site as a map, you can click on any village association, and see all the categories available, in such a beautiful rainbow accordion. You click on the party you want to learn about and you get to see their manifestos, where they stand on certain divisive issues, and then an overview of the candidates with an introduction about each one.

These are over 180 candidacies and more than 1800 candidates with promotion; I compile it with artificial intelligence but run everything through a backend system where I review every single thing before it’s uploaded to the site – which has been a crazy amount of fluff! However, errors or things that could be different creep in, so it’s very easy for the customers themselves to send me information, and I’ve received more than 50 suggestions from those I respond to at the same time.

This is especially good for candidates in smaller municipalities that may not have much ability to be visible, and good for voters in larger municipalities where it can be a jungle to get a comprehensive overview.

I see, for example, that the supply in Strandabyggð and Bláskógarbyggð are relying a lot on this! I also have friends who haven’t voted before but are planning to do so now as it was easy for them to make an informed decision. And also foreign friends with the right to vote who have so far not understood Icelandic electoral dynamics but have been using this to finally be able to get involved in these issues.
