A letter from an Estonian citizen who sought asylum in Russia from prison: I was taken to a psychiatric hospital, where an injection was given without asking for permission

At the end of January, journalists got in touch with Danil, who crossed the Lämmijärvi ice to Russia for asylum. Both men have undergone a psychiatric examination in St. Petersburg. "I was declared some kind of innocent or mentally ill, which I do not agree with at all," writes Danil and demands a re-examination. He went to Russia to apply for asylum because schools were being closed in Estonia "to ban the Russian language" and he couldn’t find a job. "I had long heard that Russia has a resettlement program". Danil has not lost hope that the Russian authorities will grant him political asylum and citizenship in the future.
