I moved to the Netherlands and my German friend’s Grandad gave this to him
I think it’s cool as fuck and wanted to share it to see if anyone has seen one before or knows of any history connected to it
Also wasn’t sure about the Irish spelling of whiskey on the back, I’d usually spell it Uisce Beatha but it’s spelled in a way here that I’ve never seen

Is there « Whiskey in the jar »?
I’m not an expert
But obviously tullamore dew is from tullamore
They stopped producing there in the 50s
They sold the tullamore brand to powers whiskey from Dublin and it would be sold out of there hence why it says Dublin on the bottle
Powers merged with Irish distillers and produced out of cork from 1975
So it’s probably a bottle from the 60s
Edit : bit more history because Irish distillers refused to follow Scotch to Coffey stills and the production of grain whiskey and blended whiskey products. This seriously hurt the Irish whiskey industry which forced the merger to Irish distillers. It was Powers who were instrumental in introducing Coffey stills to Irish production and changing local distillers stance on it.
So it’s probably one of the first blended whiskeys you have from the Dublin still
My dad has that bottle! When I was a youngster, I found the baby version!

Can someone explain the spelling for me?
Uisge baugh.
Probably a dumb question but I always only knew it as uisce beatha. Was this an older irish version of the spelling or scott gaelic?
It seems that all those bottles had that spelling too.
Uisge Baugh is quasi anglicised version of Uisce Beatha or Uisge Beatha that you come across sometimes. Sometimes you see it spelt usquebaugh, Yola (an extinct Anglic language) down in Wexford loaned it into language like this, also sometimes spelt like Usbaugh in Yola as well
Is it worth much?
Ex operations manager of the Tullamore Dew Bottling hall and (in a different role) head of operations for distillery activities for them, too.
Internally, this is called a “Crock”, and can still be bought but it is no longer with that artwork on it. This could be from quite a wide range of timelines to be honest so hard to nail down.
5socks correctly listed most of the history but after the powers merger the brand was bought by another company before being bought by “William Grant & Sons” in 2010. They started building the current distillery and packaging facility in Tullamroe in 2013, with operations starting for Pot and Malt whiskey in 2014, grain whiskey in 2018 along with onsite packaging (bottling) moving to the site from Clonmel in 2017.
Now, all Tullamore dew apart from the minis (the ones you get on a plane) are fully produced and packaged in Tullamore, however some of the older expressions (12 year old onwards) still contain spirit from Irish Distillers due to the fact that the grain distillery is not yet that old yet.
Oh I have one of those! I got it from my Grandad when he died. The cork topper broke but I still have it. I know it’s not worth anything but it’s one of my favourite things because it was his and he was my hero. 😊
I have the same one, except it says 12 year old. Still sealed.
