America is like a shitty ex – cheated on their longtime partner and now can’t handle the idea of them seeing other people.

USA has designated EU an enemy that must be destroyed in their US national security strategy. And then what happened… Canada moves closer to EU, Trump loses Hungary, then the EU loan is granted to Ukraine 💪🏼

“Canada may not want be the 51st US state, but it’s increasingly acting like the 28th state of the European Union — at least in spirit”
One outcome would be through military occupation and one via a voluntary association of free states. These aren’t analogous in any way, despite this BS lead sentence.
The article also erroneously says we have one land border, which is a weird way to say it because even if we only bordered the US, Alaska is another border. We also border Denmark/Greenland via Hans Island, so that’s two countries. Basic research is hard, I guess.
The article also has a very odd American-centric warning of “you better watch your step because of CUSMA” which it describes as a renegotiation, as opposed to a review which is more accurate.
And it also states that Canada is somehow moving away from the US without any context for why that might be. Yes, weaponizing economic integration will lead to trade diversification. Carney didn’t randomly choose this path.
I’m sick of the US and can’t wait to be less and less integrated with them. Anytime we can redirect trade and resources from them, we should.

Well, that makes sense, given that the United States is acting increasingly like Russia.

>Yet Canada still **has just one land border,** and it happens to be with the world’s largest economy — about two-thirds of exports still flow south.
To be pedantic (in the finest Reddit tradition) we have two. Canada borders Denmark at/or on Hans Island. Though in this context it makes exactly zero difference.

Becoming part of the EU would be monumental. I have to say living in Europe for the past 6 months I love how Europe work together but they could do a lot more. But what they do well is keep each country’s identity.

If italy can be in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) anyone who meets the criteria and wishes to apply can apply. Morocco has an application for example. But always,
Canadians decide what they want. EU is a privilege, not a sickness being forced on anyone.

As a European, they are welcome. I’m just not sure about bordering a fascist state though with the most powerful military in the world.
