ISLAMABAD  –  Minister of Justice of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Farid Ahmadov Thursday called on the Chief Justice of the Federal Constitutional Court of Pakistan (FCCP), Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan and discussed prospects for judicial cooperation, legal assistance and modernization of court systems between the two countries Federal law minister Azam Nazir Tarrar was also present in the meeting held at the Federal Constitutional Court of Pakistan. Azerbaijan’s Minister extended warm congratulations to the Chief Justice on the successful completion of 6 months of the Federal Constitutional Court of Pakistan. He appreciated the Court’s progressive and efficient working within a short span of time and acknowledged its growing role in strengthening constitutional governance and rule of law in Pakistan.

    Farid Ahmadov highlighted that the Constitutional Court of Azerbaijan was established in 1998 and stated that Azerbaijan possesses extensive institutional and judicial experience which could be shared with the FCCP for mutual cooperation and capacity building. He emphasized the importance of enhancing cordial bilateral relations and expanding legal and constitutional cooperation between the two brotherly countries.

     The meeting also focused on prospects for legal assistance, judicial collaboration, exchange of institutional expertise, and cooperation in modernizing judicial systems. The Azerbaijani Minister expressed his country’s willingness to extend technical assistance to Pakistan, particularly in the areas of Artificial Intelligence integration into legal systems and the digitalization of judicial processes to achieve paper less judicial system.

    ?Chief Justice Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan welcomed the delegation and highlighted the remarkable journey of the FCCP during its first six months of operation. He underscored the Court’s commitment to public service through expedited disposal of cases, efficient service delivery, and strengthening constitutional justice in the country. The Chief Justice appreciated Azerbaijan’s offer of cooperation and emphasized the significance of international collaboration in promoting innovation, efficiency, and accessibility within judicial institutions. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening legal and judicial ties between Pakistan and Azerbaijan and agreed to continue engagements aimed at fostering institutional cooperation and exchange of expertise.  Meanwhile, the delegation also met with Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi at the Supreme Court. During the meeting, matters of mutual interest relating to judicial cooperation, rule of law, institutional reforms, and strengthening bilateral collaboration in the justice sector were discussed in detail. Both sides exchanged views on judicial education, digital transformation of courts, alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, and sharing of best practices in judicial administration.

     The Chief Justice also shared ongoing reform initiatives being undertaken within Pakistan’s justice sector, particularly in the areas of technology integration, judicial capacity building, legal empowerment, and improving service delivery within courts.

     Farid Ahmadov appreciated the pivotal role of the judiciary of Pakistan in upholding the rule of law and expressed keen interest in enhancing cooperation between the two countries in the fields of judicial training, legal research, and institutional development. The Azerbaijani delegation also acknowledged Pakistan’s continued support for strengthening bilateral ties and regional cooperation. The meeting concluded with exchange of souvenirs and a reaffirmation of mutual commitment to further deepen collaboration between Pakistan and Azerbaijan in the field of law and justice through structured engagement, exchange programmes, and institutional partnerships.
