From
May 15 to 17, “Lauta” Park in the second largest city in
Bulgaria – Plovdiv, welcomes one of the largest folklore festivals in
Bulgaria. “Plovdiv Folklore Festival” returns with three
days of music, dances and traditions. Over 4,500 performers from all
over the country will present the wealth and beauty of Bulgarian
folklore, the Plovdiv Municipality announced.
The
program of the event with free admission this year will include
Zdravko Mandadzhiev, Iva Kostadinova and Velislava Kostadinova, the
“Trakia” ensemble, Pepi Hristozova, Svetla Dukateva and
hundreds of other groups, dance clubs, bagpipe ensembles, schools and
community centers.
The
traditional large open-air dance events will once again gather
thousands of masters and lovers of folk dances until late in the
evening. On Friday, the program starts at 5:00 PM, and on Saturday
and Sunday – at 10:00 AM.
There
is also a farmers’ market, a craft alley, demonstrations and
workshops, and a folk instrument school.
