Belgium’s national football coach, Rudi Garcia, has announced the inclusion of star striker Romelu Lukaku in the World Cup squad, despite his ongoing battle with a hamstring injury that has limited his playtime to just an hour this season.

Garcia emphasized Lukaku’s irreplaceable role as both a top scorer and team leader, explaining that the player is crucial for Belgium’s World Cup ambitions. Lukaku, who has faced disciplinary measures from his club Napoli for not training with them, will train with the national team’s medical staff to expedite his recovery.

The forward, who has not featured for Belgium since a World Cup qualifier win against Wales, is set to face significant fitness challenges ahead of the tournament. Belgium will confront Egypt in their opening match, with further group stage challenges against Iran and New Zealand.
