ILAGAN CITY — Isabela has announced the deployment of 250 farmers to South Korea under the Seasonal Workers Program (SWP) in the past two months.

According to the provincial information office (PIO), the latest group of 41 farmers arrived in Jinan County, South Korea, on May 10, joining five other batches sent on March 10.

The PIO said that the deployment is a result of a partnership between Isabela and Jinan County in South Korea.

The farmers were sent to Jinan County via Busan, where they will work alongside other Filipino workers under the SWP.

The program is expected to provide opportunities for Isabela farmers to gain new skills and experiences in agriculture.

Isabela has been working closely with South Korean authorities to facilitate the deployment of farmers under the program.

The PIO said the initiative is seen as a way to promote agricultural cooperation and provide temporary employment opportunities for local farmers.

The latest batch of farmers joins 209 other workers from Isabela who were deployed in previous batches.

“The SWP is expected to continue, with more farmers from Isabela set to be deployed in the coming months,” the PIO stated.
