Aiming to get her hands on the Eurovision trophy for Romania is singer Alexandra Căpitănescu.
The singer-songwriter will represent the country at the 2026 edition of the contest, which will take place in Vienna, Austria, with her song Choke Me.
The 22-year-old rose to prominence in her home country after winning season 11 of The Voice of Romania in 2023.
Alexandra released her debut EP, Căpitnu, in 2024 and, since then, has recorded a number of singles. She has also performed at festivals including Electric Castle.
Since January 2026, he has been a temporary member of the folk metal band E-an-na. Alexandra won broadcaster TVR’s competition to find this year’s Eurovision song, with her entry being confirmed in March.

Away from music, Alexandra is a master’s student at the Faculty of Physics in Bucharest and plans to specialise as a medical physicist
Ahead of this year’s Eurovision, Romania was among the favourites with odds of 11-1 earlier this week, according to Bet365.
This year’s Eurovision Song Contest final takes place at Wiener Stadthalle in Vienna on Saturday, May 16. Austrian stars, Victoria Swarovski and Michael Ostrowski, will be presenting the grand final, while here in the UK, viewers will also hear Graham Norton’s legendary commentary
