To be fair imagine how hard it is to vet Reform candidates. Their awful views are why they’ve been chosen to be a candidate.

It’s almost a joke that their voter base think these clowns can run the Government when local council work is a stretch.

Any politician who resigns for any reason other than illness or major life change should be forced to pick up the bill either themselves or via the party
The party should be banned from running in that seat until the next election as well
Similarly any defections should result in a by-election

Also 4 Green councillors have resigned since being elected on 7th May. It will cost at least £80,000 up to £100,000 to hold 4 by-elections

There is a bit of a joke where I live that it’s been Labour for so long you could put a dog (or anything) up as a candidate and we would still vote Labour.
What’s funny (or incredibly depressing) is that in my ward reform have put up a guy that looks like a sack of rotten sausages with 2 teeth and they still voted him in. He’s the type to post AI generated memes on Facebook everyday and go on about the war despite knowing nothing about it. Thick as mince.

How many is that now between the parties? Has there ever been as many?

Maybe instead of the local councils, the party they ran for has to foot the bill? Surely would force proper vetting
Gonna be alot of resignations and suspensions with 1300+ new people in local government.
Unbelievable how the public didnt learn looking at Kent and Worcestershire. How long before Farage says “we shouldn’t have bothered” about another council?
At this point, if youre gonna vote Reform, take your poll card and wipe your ass with it. It’ll see more use that way

Those patriotic minded Reform donors can fund Novgorod Nigel’s house purchase, but council tax payers foot the bill when one of their councillors turns out to be too batshit for even their low standards.

Crazy they do the vetting after the elections.
Should be done well before. Surely the cost of vetting all candidates would be less than the cost to elect someone new.

Surely, this cost should be passed onto the party or the person rather than the council?
