Belgium, alongside Germany and the United Kingdom, did not receive any points from the public vote during the Eurovision 2026 Grand Final. In this article, we dive behind the numbers to see whether Belgium was close to enter a public’s top 10, and how it fared in average rankings.

From 10 to nothing between the shows

The first thing about Belgium is that “Dancing on the Ice” received points from the public vote during its semi-final: ten of them. 4 came from Israel, 2 from Georgia, and 1 each from Finland, Moldova, Montenegro and the Rest of the World voting.

These points vanished between the semi-final and the final. And not only did they vanish, but Belgium ended up ranking very low in most of these countries, as well as in the other countries.

    • Belgium was ranked, on average, at 22.4 which is the second lowest behind Austria (22.5, although they are closer if you discount San Marino’s fake televote: 22.38 for Belgium to 22.44 for Austria)
    • Five countries ranked Belgium last (Armenia, Austria, Germany, Romania and Switzerland), just like the United Kingdom
    • However, 27 countries ranked it in their bottom 3, and 32 (out of 35) in their bottom 5
      • The three countries that ranked it above that were Luxembourg (20th), as well as Israel and France (19th), with two of these being neighbours and Francophone countries, which may explain the slight advantage.
      • Israel had also given Belgium the most points in the semi-final, and in both shows, performed right before Belgium, perhaps explaining why more people would vote for it.

The likely theory is that “Dancing on the Ice” started with little televote appeal (which was already predicted, and which is confirmed by its low results in the semi-final), which was not enough to survive the strong handicap of its running order: fourth to perform, right after Israel, just like in the semi-final but too early this time,. and with too much competition for Israeli voters to truly focus on it enough to give it votes.

Note: San Marino is placed at the end of the list as it does not use a real televote, but an aggregation of the televotes of several other countries.
