    1. The only reason why russia is still so confident is… nukes.

Thats it. Militarily they are 20-30 years behind the NATO.

    2. This is not the language we need right now! Are there really that many world leaders ready to kill everyone. After WW3 the human survivors will need to work together to survive. Why not just skip WW3 and start working together stop working on capital and make money by the shit loads. Lets start working on does everyone have what they need. Not want but need. After see what happened to the world duringr WW2 why are we not letting cooler heads prevail?

I mean, I should hope so.

Kaliningrad is a Russian exclave surrounded by Europe on all sides. It would be embarrassing if Europe were not capable of giving that place an involuntary redecoration if it chose. It’s not generally something you’d *brag* about, but if there were ever, God forbid, a shooting war there, it would be pretty quickly uninhabitable.

Whether individuals might hide in cellars there for months, that’s a different question, but the place is completely indefensible.

Interesting shift from Europe. Apparently the sabre is going to be rattled right back at Putin after his various ramblings along these lines of late.

    5. I think Poland probably can clear that in a 3 day special operation, it’s like 100km wide from Poland to Lithuania and I doubt there’s much of anything left to defend it with.

    6. Uh.. this is not news. Or new. This is obvious. So why this article and why now?

    7. That was always allowed =) NATO can also raze the Russian bases in Russia.

    8. Honestly this is exactly why countries on Russias border wanted stronger NATO protection for years while much of Western Europe kept insisting Moscow could still be reasoned with normally

After Ukraine, nobody in the Baltics is willing to gamble their future on trusting the Kremlin anymore. The entire point of NATO is making sure Russia understands any aggression would end disastrously for them

    9. Thats a big Duh. The entire Baltic/Norse Fleets and airforces AND Germany and Poland are right next to it.

    10. Been saying it this whole time. We should use Putins own logic on him. Sweden should take back Kaliningrad so those poor people can be free again. We could even have a fake vote on it and everything.

the shift/balance of power in Europe right now is huge. Pre-Ukraine War, Russia was looked at as a prime world power albeit a declining power. The US backed NATO was treated as an equal.

The reality is that Russia can’t handle Ukraine without significant failures. If the full force of NATO were to be in a full scale war with Russia, I don’t think Russia would be able to hold up without nukes being used and to me that is the only preventing NATOs involvement in more involved manner.

Of course we are. Not that we want to. We want Russia on the russian side of the border. We want Ukraine to choose its own direction. We want Moldova, Transnistrien, Bulgaria, Slovakia to choose. Russia? Okay. EU? okay. But f…ing choose!

    13. That’s not exactly news. The first step of NATO defensive plan in case of RUS invasion of Baltics is immediate and total annihilation of Kaliningrad. It’s an enemy enclave in our backline, it can not be allowed to exist.

NATO has to be capable to destroy ruzzian military bases from the Kaliningrad to Ural mountains.

      I hope so.

    15. Allowing the USSR to keep Königsberg and forcefully displace its population was a mistake.
