WANA (May 20) – Iran’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations has sharply criticized the United States following recent American claims regarding Tehran’s nuclear program, accusing Washington of historical hypocrisy and international law violations.
In a series of statements released on X (formerly Twitter), the Iranian mission asserted that the United States remains the only country in history to have ever used nuclear weapons.
The mission further alleged that Washington bears responsibility for attacks against peaceful nuclear facilities covered by International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) safeguards, as well as for targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure.
The Iranian delegation went on to claim that the U.S. continues to breach international law through illegal naval blockades and what it described as unwavering support for Israeli actions across the region.
According to the statement, Washington is exploiting the UN Security Council platform to spread misinformation about Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities under the cynical pretext of defending global security and freedom of navigation.
Concluding its remarks, the mission stated that the true perpetrator was effectively attempting to play the roles of prosecutor and judge in an effort to whitewash its own actions.
