> For Rath, choosing to put the pro-Canadian question on a referendum ballot amounts to a betrayal of the many Albertans who are separatists, but chose to support Smith as leader of the UCP.
> “It’s not the question that the separatists want because it’s an affirmative question,” said Mount Royal political scientist Duane Bratt.
> If Smith does call a referendum on the “Forever Canadian” citizen’s petition, Rath said separatists are already planning their attempt to oust the premier — as was done with her predecessor Jason Kenney.
> “We’re asking all of the people that signed (our) petition and all of our canvassers to organize themselves to sell memberships across the province, because if our question is not put on a ballot by the end of the month, we’re going to be organizing a special general meeting of the of the United Conservative Party for August,” Rath said.

Who could’ve seen this happening?

Separatists angry that they went with the pro-Canada question.
Federalists angry because they turned their question into a referendum when they wanted a Legislature vote.
This is going to get messy for the UCP. They just angered everyone under their tent.

And there you have it folks.
It’s not about democracy. It’s not about the will of the people. It’s not about any grievances with the rest of Canada. It’s not even about a better future for Alberta – which was always a delusional pipe dream.
It’s about Danielle Smith keeping her job. Period.

Only semi-related, but Jeffery Rath should probably get his blood pressure checked. I’ve never seen a man at rest where every single visible part of his body is flushed. Man looks like someone hooked a compressor up to his bloodstream.

Alberta won’t be a part of Canada in 5 years, just like the UN will relocate to Europe and the international criminal court will no longer exist. The 80 years of post WWII stability are gone.
I say this because the pro-American side of Alberta independence is starting to feel emboldened to more extreme behaviour. I know some feel that treaty rights will win the day, you are much more positive than you should be. Dont trust the US to follow any rules to take Alberta oil into their ownership

I mean this is Alberta politics 101. It’s more about the Conservatives keeping both sides of their party happy. Usually we get a new premier when this infighting starts to happen.
Danielle Smith has been good at managing it so far, but she might be losing her grip

Less talk more action. I’d love to see smith forced out she has done nothing but harm to Alberta aside from anti Canadian tactics and bending the knee to the pedo president. She was put there to represent us as a province under Canada not to be a pro separatist throw Alberta under the bus so we can become the 51 state.
