PP acting for Canada without some snide snivelly nonsense.
And coming out reasonably early as well.
I wonder what happened to his drinking water? I thought he’d wait until after the vote to say and do something.
What a surprising development.

>”I will be campaigning across the province encouraging Albertans to stay as part of the Canadian family,” he said when asked what he will do if separatists there succeed in getting an independence question before voters.
>”All Conservatives will be campaigning for Canadian unity in Alberta,” he said. “I stand for a united country and we’re going to campaign every day and every way.”
Honestly, props to him for doing this and demanding it of his MPs. _The separatists are in the Albertan Conservative base_, and so this risks some form of reprisal.
I don’t expect the _Take Back Alberta_ folks to start voting PPC or Christian Heritage, but the sort of reprisal I believe Poilievre should brace and prepare for would be the pursuit of control of local riding associations.

Welp, this may actually be it.
We’ve been waiting for something to finally damage Poilievre’s rock solid support with the core Conservative base (ie., Canadian MAGA people). This is as close to touching that third rail as Poilievre has done yet.
If he goes out on the road campaigning for Alberta to remain he’s gonna get handfuls of gravel thrown at him by people screaming that he’s a Liberal WEF puppet.

I suppose the real question here is, will this cost PP much in the way of support in his own riding?
Imagine if this results in him losing his seat, again.
Not that much of a risk of course, but just imagine if it did.
I might just chuckle at that TBH… I just might.

Dude has been talking out of both sides of his mouth now for awhile.
Finally stands up and his supporters seem to think we should all seal clap in response.
It’s the Trump threats all over again.

The fact that our politicians have to campaign for this blows my mind. Separating makes no sense. Our society is cooked.

It will be interesting to see how he manages to support staying in Canada while shitting all over the Liberals. Don’t get me wrong I am happy that he is making an effort because others don’t have as much respect from rural Albertans and he does represent a rural Alberta riding.

Hopefully this properly fractures the party come next election. I don’t like the PPC but if they can take half of the Tory vote I’ll be happy. Though it will not be half.

If this pushes some of the fringe far-right out of the CPC base back into the PPC, it may harm the CPC in the short term but it’s beneficial for them and ultimately the country in the long term. It’s best for fringe views and fringe policy to stay in fringe parties. Alberta separatists, and those in other provinces, should follow the BQ lead and create parties centered around their independence movement and attempt to get elected on that message and get actual representation in the House. But because they know that would be very difficult , they instead try to infiltrate mainstream parties and take over influence from the inside. When mainstream parties entertain that for some short term electoral gain, they end up regretting it. It’s not tenable to have separatists in your party when separation is not one of your policies.

Dude’s spent his whole life trying to become the Prime Minister of Canada, and *needed to clarify for the record that he doesn’t want Canada to break up*.

He has no choice, but even the cynic in me can appreciate him willing to go on the record on this.
If he was smart, this could be a stage he used to legitimately transform himself in to more of a moderate. Defend Canadian unity, come out against separatism/Pro-US sentiment. Sure you’d lose the wingnuts but i bet you a good amount of true PCs/moderate tories would come back home to make up for it.
He won’t though. And once the Alberta issue is done with he’ll go back to being the world’s shittiest pull doll.
Didn’t think he could get even more tone deaf but holy the entitlement. 🤣 You had your chance to become PM last year and you blew it! Couldn’t even hold his own seat. More likely to be a paper-boy-in-waiting.

Say, if Alberta was to be out of Canada, would it not make Poillievre automatically lost his House of Common seat as his seat is from Alberta?

…because he’s worried that if Alberta were to separate, there’s nowhere in the country where he’d be able to run for a seat as a MP.

Not covered in the article, Poilievre also referred to himself as the ‘[prime-minister-in-waiting](https://x.com/cspotweet/status/2057525289022882281)’ – I’m not joking.
