Fuck me an actual custodial sentence which isn’t suspended for a driving offence.

Inb4 “Typical BMW driver”.

The quality of writing in this article is staggeringly awful.
For context, she brake-checked a BMW who crashed into her causing a motorcyclist to subsequently crash into the BMW leading to the rider being fatally injured.
Also the past tense of brake is braked not broke.

I’d have given the BMW a custodial as well for tailgating.

If someone is driving too close behind you, you’re meant to gently touch your brakes to show your break lights, you’re not meant to slam on. I feel for the poor motorbike rider who lost his life and had nothing to do with any of this.

Brake checking has to be the dumbest move on the roads. Where the hell did it come from?

Horrid woman, I know exactly the type of person that does this on the road. Probably going half the speed limit, sees someone coming up behind her then puts the brakes on as punishment

Good to see an example made of people like this. Brake checking – regardless of what someone behind does – is so utterly stupid and dangerous. Sort of person who has no understanding of the danger they pose to other people fucking around trying to make a point/be petty in a couple of tonnes of metal at high speed.

Shit situation that could have been avoided if both the BMW and the bike had been driving properly. Like it or not braking distances are there for a reason.

What a piece of work. I initially thought they must have been tailgating/too close to stop if the car in front breaks suddenly, but the witnesses and Judge stated this was not the case.
She was probably banking on it ‘always being the car behind’s fault’ in an accident if they go into the back of you. Which I’m guessing it would have been if she’d actually had to break suddenly for a genuine reason.
What a sad turn of events. Cars are 1 tonne plus weapons driven by idiots at times

Every single person involved in that crash is an idiot. Her for brake checking, the BMW for being so close he couldn’t stop, and the motorcyclist for the same. I’m sorry, it’s a harsh truth, but he’s as much to blame for his own death as she is: if she’d had to genuinely do an emergency stop because of a vehicle or animal in front of her, the outcome would have been the same. Yay for some sort of punishment for doing dangerous shit on the roads, but the BMW driver should also receive some kind of reprimand, and that motorcyclist isn’t the innocent paragon the article would have you believe.
Stopping distances are important, and you are responsible for the one in front of you. I cannot believe how few comments recognise she is not solely at fault for this.
