That seems like an unusually high ratio of killed:wounded. More dead than wounded, I can’t think of any extended conflict where that happened. But then we have been hearing for months how Ukraine is causing massive damage with drones, often before Russian troops even reach the frontlines.

They’re gonna feel this for decades, they just don’t know it yet.

I went down a nasty rabbithole a few weeks ago. The small drones these two countries have been using to kill each other leave the most mutilated horrifying remains. A lot of the russians who die this way notice the drone coming towards them, and so many of them just sit down and let it hit them. Some try to swat it away with their hands or unsuccessfully try to hide themselves behind a thin tree trunk. Afterwards another drone comes by and captures the damage. Smoothly panned dolly shots of headless, feetless torsos lying at the foot of trees and in fields The forests and fields of Ukraine in those videos, it’s gopro footage from hell with death metal playing in the background.

Reposting my own comment from a different thread regarding a 60% kill to wounded ratio. This is a crazy number.
It’s absolutely insane and completely unsustainable even with full mobilization. This means that there’s 0 casevac and anyone hit has to drag themselves to find a medic, or more likely, patch themselves up.
WW2 W/K ratio was 3:1. For functional modern militaries that have overwhelming superiority, it’s as high as 10:1, which was around what the US had in Afghanistan. For Ukraine, it’s hard to get data, but it’s estimated at 5:1.
Some quick math, to put that in perspective. Russia has 1.35MM total casualties. Let’s assume even a 2:1 ratio for the total duration of the war, will give us 450k Russian dead (it’s likely more, given the last 6-months of the war). The casualty ratio between Russia and Ukraine that’s been constantly mentioned is 3:1, so for the 1.35MM Russians, you will have 450k Ukrainian total casualties, with 75k Ukrainian dead using the 5:1 W/K ratio, which is in line with CSIS estimates.
And it’s 100% true that Ukraine has a manpower shortage, but the kill rate, especially in the last 6 months so strongly favors Ukraine, that Russian population advantage is completely negated. While the total casualty ratio is 3 to 1, the actual kill ratio is 6 to 1 in Ukraine’s favor.
Yes, this is a very ugly discussion, but war at this scale unfortunately boils down to numbers, and not individuals.

145,000 losses in 2026 is more than the total claimed losses in the entire war for ukraine.

Skill issue for the Russians tbh

What happened to the other 59k? They just disappear? Did some of the 86k slam another token in?
