Zoran Ristoski, the director of MRT (The national broadcaster), confirmed the country’s intention to participate in Eurovision 2027! The news are based on a publication made by Lider,

Speaking at a public MRT Program Council meeting, which drew press, industry guilds, and institutional representatives, Ristoski officially locked in North Macedonia’s return for Eurovision 2027 in Bulgaria.
He highlighted the EBU’s ongoing backing in championing cultural heritage and mentioned he expects a more accommodating deal from the broadcasting union to ease the country’s comeback.
One of the reasons North Macedonia plans to participate may be that Eurovision 2027 will be held in one of its neighbouring countries.
The country first tried to compete in Eurovision 1996, but failed to qualify via the pre-qualification round.
Their first Eurovision appearance was in 1998, with their last appearance in 2022.

In 2023, the country withdrew from the contest due to financial issues.
However, the country has kept participating in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.
The country’s best result was in 2019, when they ended 7th in the final and won the jury vote.
Back then, Tamara Todevska represented the country with “Proud”
Andrea represented North Macedonia in Eurovision 2022.
She performed “Circles” and ended 11th in semi-final 2.
Eurovision 2027 will take place in May 2027 in Bulgaria
