    1. This is two days old but they also just announced a 200 million dollar bridge upgrade in Vancouver. With Federal help.

What I think should be the solution is to actually *say* what you want. Alberta is loud about pipelines and we are trying to get one done. Ontario is loud about mines and we got mine projects happening.

Make what you want public, get conversations going instead if just being the “dont do that” province who seems to have no real projects or at least not making any of it very public.

It actually interesting quebec sort of found the formula to get special attention from the feds no matter what…

It seems we got lucky that for 40 years no one emulated that for a while…

    3. This is exactly what happens when federal-provincial relations are just a series of bilateral phone calls between the PM and whoever’s being the loudest that week. The Senate was designed to be the body where regional interests are represented inside the national legislature, and it has completely failed at that job.

An elected Senate with real teeth fixes this. Alberta, Quebec and BC both get permanent, legitimate representation in Ottawa before things ever escalate to separatism threats. Instead we have premiers throwing tantrums to get attention because it works, and other premiers going to the press to complain that it works. Vibes-based governance at its finest.
