Lithuania’s Ministry of Defence has signed an agreement with Saab Dynamics AB for the acquisition of the Carl-Gustaf M4 recoilless rifle, associated components, and training equipment. The order value amounts to SEK 460 million, with deliveries planned during the period 2026 to 2029, according to Saab in a press release.

According to Saab, the order is part of a new ten-year agreement between the company and Lithuania. The agreement covers Carl-Gustaf M4 systems, subcalibre adapters for training ammunition, and the training solution Carl-Gustaf Outdoor Trainer. It also enables additional options with a combined value of up to SEK 640 million.

The agreement also encompasses cooperation with the Lithuanian defence industry. According to Lithuania’s Ministry of Defence, an industrial cooperation agreement has been signed with Saab Dynamics AB to a value of approximately 17 million euros.

Alongside the acquisition, we are also investing in Lithuania’s defence industry, economy, and technological capacity. The cooperation will help strengthen national competencies within ammunition, logistics, technical solutions, and security technology, says Lithuania’s Defence Minister Robertas Kaunas.

According to the Lithuanian Ministry of Defence, the total contract value, including options, may amount to approximately 58 million euros.

We are proud to continue supplying the Lithuanian forces with the Carl-Gustaf system together with our training equipment, enabling soldiers to prepare for and carry out their missions safely, says Görgen Johansson, head of Saab’s business area Dynamics, in the press release.
