Austrian plant manufacturer BDI-BioEnergy International (BDI) and Ghent Renewables have commissioned a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) advanced feedstock pre-treatment plant at North Sea Port in Ghent, Belgium.
Delivered on schedule and now fully operational, the plant played a key role in strengthening the supply chain for sustainable fuels including SAF, BDI said on 6 May.
The facility is built around BDI’s proprietary advanced pre-treatment technology, which removes contaminants that typically restrict the usability of waste-based feedstocks.
“This commissioning marks an important milestone for both partners and reinforces the critical role of advanced pre-treatment in the renewable fuels value chain,” BDI managing directors Manfred Baumgartner and David Niederl said.
Headquartered in Austria, BDI is a specialist in biodiesel technology development and plant construction.
