Finnish broadcaster YLE has announced the first details regarding “UMK 2027″. The submission window is open for a few days only.

    “UMK 2027” – Known Details

    1. The submission window opened on August 17th and will close on August 23rd, 2026.
    2. Submissions can be made online here.
    3. The final master and the stems must be ready and delivered to Yle by October 30th, 2026. The structure of the song must be ready and delivered to Yle by October 12th, 2026.
    4. Juries appointed by Yle will evaluate the competitors (performer + song) from among all songs submitted to the competition. The juries consist of people of different ages and backgrounds.
    5. The “UMK 2027” winner will be selected by a combination of an international jury and public votes. Based on previous years, the ratio is expected to be 75% public and 25% jury vote.
    6. “UMK 2027” will be held on February 20th, 2027, in Nokia Arena in Tampere.
    7. There are no restrictions on languages.
    8. The songs mustn’t be published before.
    9. A performer can participate in the competition as a soloist with a maximum of three songs, and a maximum of one song per soloist can be accepted for the competition.
    10. At least one of the song’s authors and lead singers must have Finnish citizenship or permanent residence in Finland.
    11. The finalists and their songs are expected to be revealed in January 2026.
