      I found this https://www.cdc.gov/ebola/outbreaks/index.html

Gives an idea how this stacks up with previous epidemics.

It’s still hard to tell what’s going on on the ground, it’s definitely at the level where I would be concerned though. It’s like if I told you there was a medium size forest fire but you couldn’t find reliable information on what percent contained it is, how windy it is, etc. it could be a nothing story being sensationalized or a genuine emergency.

      Fuck.

      >*Size of the outbreak: this is massive already. Based on some other signals and conversations, this outbreak is at least 2-3 months old.*

      >*Official case numbers are ~1,000. But I suspect the true number is much larger, probably double. This will almost certainly end up being the second largest Ebola outbreak ever, and soon.*

I blame it on WHO mishandling of COVID that caused the US pulling the funding from it.

Zero accountability of China refusing to cooperate in investigation, banning local travel while letting the COVID spread through international flights, and didn’t dare to say a thing when Australia being sanctioned by China simply for asking for investigation.

WHO credibility and neutrality are a joke. So many people died over COVID, including many relatives and friends of the readers here. Total disgrace.

And we are supposed to shut up about it because China is strong now and we can’t afford to make it unhappy.

Not sure how much aid would really help seeing how hard the population is fighting first responders and how difficult it really is for the virus to spread (direct fluid contact). I would focus on education as anyone should see burning down a hospital during an outbreak is not a good idea.

MAGATs aren’t scared of viruses since it’s fake and they got ivermectin and Jesus

    6. Part of the problem is the local funeral rites. These people are supposedly about to start rioting to get their hands on these ebola-ridden corpses so that they can observe these funeral rites. Which is… suicidally stupid if true.

MAGA has decimated aid programs to African countries, and it seems like China only provides aid in the form of infrastructure that facilitates the extraction and export of natural resources.

Why would the government of the DR of Congo cut aid to Ebola treatment? Because, it is the responsibility of the Government of the DR of Congo to manage this outbreakl

These are former French colonies using french currencies, France should be providing all aid funding now if not for the past several generations.

I was told by reddit experts a few years back when the US left WHO and cut foreign aid that China or Russia will just step in and fill America’s role. Then China will take all of that soft power that the US “stupidly” abandoned.

Where is that Chinese money. And why is the world expecting US tax payers to keep funding healthcare responses of the world when the US doesn’t even fund healthcare of its own citizen? The US and its tax payers been in the front line for a long time now. Other rich nations like those in Europe should financially step up now.

This will ruffle some feathers but I love how comments on Ebola always point the blame at the US (fair regarding the aid cuts) but never on working a solution to actually help and by that I mean the dumbass rituals and beliefs a lot of these villages have which are causing the spread of Ebola, that if any Christian state in America did Reddit would lambast them to no end for being stupid.
