Damascus, May 25 (SANA) Syria’s Ministry of Economy and Industry discussed plans to expand the Bab al-Hawa Industrial City during a meeting with representatives of Türkiye’s Esra Construction Company and the city’s administration.
The meeting, chaired by Deputy Minister Bassel Abdul Hanan, reviewed the final stages of studies related to the expansion project, including engineering designs, implementation mechanisms and infrastructure requirements.
According to the ministry, discussions focused on roads, retaining walls, electricity, water and sewage networks, alongside engineering solutions tailored to the site’s terrain to improve operational efficiency and reduce internal congestion within the industrial zone.
The project aims to establish infrastructure capable of supporting future industrial expansion by strengthening essential services, including electricity capacity, water supply systems, rainwater harvesting and waste management.
Participants also agreed to consolidate administrative plots into a single organizational cluster to improve management efficiency and workflow within the new development area.
Preliminary studies indicate that the expansion could cover around 255,000 square meters, while technical assessments are continuing ahead of the implementation phase. Last month, the Ministry of Economy and Industry announced the opening of two food production facilities in Bab al-Hawa Industrial City as part of a Syrian-Turkish investment partnership aimed at supporting production and investment.
