If it were not for the unique political will of the Belarusian leader, Aleksandr Lukashenko, Belarus would be facing the same situation as the one developing in Ukraine now – as stated by a Latvian journalist, ex-member of the European Parliament Andrejs Mamikins, in his talk with the Belarus 1 TV channel, sb.by reports

As noted by the expert, the Baltic States have got involved in an armed conflict. “Back in 2024, all three Baltic countries signed an agreement on military assistance to Ukraine, and this aid continues since then. Remember the endless statements by the presidents of Latvia and Lithuania that they must inflict a strategic defeat, destroy the Russian Federation as a state, and tear Belarus away from Russia,” he stressed.

Mr. Mamikins recalled the incidents with Ukrainian drones, “Just think about the headlines posted on Latvian Internet portals: ‘American jet piloted by Romanian attempted to intercept Ukrainian drone while patrolling Latvian airspace, but lost the target’. That news dealt with one of the recent UAV’s penetrations. Well, we live in an era of absurdity and surrealism, but the price of this is human lives, and their number already exceeds hundreds of thousands, reaching millions of dead and wounded persons – and this wound will not heal for a very long time among Ukrainians.”

The expert added, “Of course, Aleksandr Lukashenko is right when speaking of what three countries – Belarus, Russia and Ukraine – could achieve if they were together. That’s what the West did not want to happen in any case. My guess is that it wanted to start with Belarus in August 2020. If Aleksandr Lukashenko had not shown a unique, phenomenal political will, Ukraine would have been on the territory of Belarus. When saying ‘Ukraine’ I mean the phenomenon: war.”
