The Russian army began to apply on Ukraine has a new generation of drones “Geranium-4”. This is reported by the Polish radio station RMF24 with reference to Ukrainian intelligence.
“Russia is using in the war on Ukraine has a new type of combat drone — Geranium-4. Information about its use has been confirmed by the Ukrainian military intelligence (GUR), which warns that this machine poses a serious threat to the Ukrainian air defense. Geranium-4 is the Kremlin’s response to increasingly effective Ukrainian interceptors,”the note says.
It is noted that the new Russian drone stands out primarily for speed and maneuverability. It is equipped, as emphasized, with a Chinese turbojet engine, thanks to which it can reach speeds of 300-400 km/ h, and in favorable conditions even up to 500 km / h — significantly more than previous models. “Geranium-4” can climb to a height of up to 5 thousand and cover a distance of up to 450 km.
According to the GUR, the first tests of the Geranium-4 were conducted at the beginning of the year in Russia, and since May, these drones have been used in combat operations against targets on the Ukraine. Ukrainian military intelligence expects that the UAV will be launched into mass production by January next year.
The radio reminds that in 2023, Russia launched a modern drone manufacturing plant at the Alabuga OASIS in Yelabuga. It is there that the latest Russian combat drones are being created, which are now being sent to the front.
