The May bank holiday Monday is here and supermarkets are expected to be especially busy as shoppers make last-minute dashes for barbecue food, picnic essentials and drinks to make the most of the long weekend.
Weather forecasts for Monday 25 May are still looking warm and bright across much of the UK, with sunshine expected in many regions and temperatures sitting comfortably in the high teens and low 20s. In other words, ideal weather for firing up the grill, heading to the park or stretching lunch outdoors for far longer than originally planned.
The timing is perfect too, as the Good Housekeeping Institute has just released its annual BBQ taste test results, revealing the best burgers, sausages, kebabs and meat-free products to throw on the grill this summer. So if you’re planning one final barbecue before the long weekend ends, now’s the perfect time to stock up.
To make things easier, we’ve rounded up all the UK supermarket opening hours below. Just keep in mind that times can vary depending on location, so it’s always worth double-checking your local branch before travelling.
