What is the percentage of Bolivia’s original territory which has been lost?

Why didn’t Chile just give that northern territory to Boliva for the bottom portion that belonged to Boliva, so both issues could be solved

I propose giving Bolivia all its lost territory back and making Colombia Gran again. I propose these things to cause problems on purpose.

The Acre (purple) region was sold, not exactly ceded

The Bolivian losses to Brazil are actually quite a historical exercise in meaningless tragedy. The purple region was occupied by Brazilian rubber extractors (and it was sponsored by a Brazilian state that wanted to annex the land) and they declared independence but Brazil itself didn’t want it because it would cause a conflict with Bolivia, ultimately there was a treaty and Brazil paid for the territory and promised to build a railroad in the middle of a jungle. The railroad was completed at a great cost of lives just as synthetic rubber made it obsolete.

Well, talk about misrepresentations. I don’t know about the other cases, but what happened with Argentina was that Bolivia invaded and annexed 2 of our provinces, were repelled, and then in 1893 the borders were fixed. They didn’t “cede” a thing.
The 1930s Chaco War was a very nasty and bloody affair. Over land suspected of having oil. However the big gas deposits were eventually found in the 1/3 of the disputed area retained by Bolivia.

It should the noted that the northern chunk of chile was part of perú when bolivia lost their coast in the war of the pacific (1879-1884, with current borders as of 1929 after chile returned tacna to perú).

Hot take: Bolivia should have the purple 1903 territory back. I have no idea what’s in that land other than rain-forest, but i do love me a good panhandle.

Arguably it’s a lot more than this since the Peru-Bolivian Confederation was under Bolivian control

When your capital is called “Peace”, you shouldn’t be surprised that you aren’t very good at waging war.

If anyone is confused about Chile being split, it is because Chile won that northern part from Peru in the War of the Pacific (where they got Bolivian sea coast).

It has also recently lost La Paz to a bunch of punks armed with rocks

Ceded is a weird word to use here. Some territories were sold, some they lost on war. Is not as if Bolivia decided to be the Santa Claus of South America

Bolivia lost the coast (Litoral) in 1879, not 1904.
