Norway (13 points) already clinched its first appearance in the quarterfinals at the IIHF World Championship since 2012 and on Tuesday has the opportunity to lock up the second spot in Group B with a win over Denmark (5 points) at BCF Arena in Fribourg, Switzerland. The Danes play their final game of the tournament assured they will remain in the top division for the 2027 event in Germany next spring.

Norway never trailed on Monday, taking over second place in the group with a 4-1 victory over Czechia. The decision leaves the teams tied with 13 points with one game to play and the Norwegians holding the tiebreaker. Håvard Østrem Salsten got Norway on the board early, scoring 2:59 into the game, and Michael Brandsegg-Nygård made it 2-0 at the 6:49 mark of the first period. Martin Rønnild and Brandsegg-Nygard added third period goals and Henrik Haukeland made 17 saves in the win.
Patrick Russell scored the only goal in the shootout on Sunday to lift Denmark past Italy, 3-2, to assure it would not face relegation. Christian Wejse and Mikkel Aagaard scored 16 seconds apart at 2:33 and 2:49 of the first period to put the Danes up 2-0 before Italy came back to tie the game with a pair of second period markers. Mads Søgaard stopped 35 shots and then turned aside all four attempts he faced in the shootout.
Noah Steen leads Norway with five goals, while Tinus Luc Kolbar comes in with three goals and a team-high six points. In four appearances, Haukeland has a .968 save percentage and 0.75 goals against average. Aagaard tops Denmark with five goals and nine points and Søgaard brings in a .902 save percentage and 2.74 GAA in five games.
