Why does Pakistan claim the fully Hindu-majority land of Junagadh?
DataSittingAlone on
Kinda surprised how dominated by Hinduism India is since I’ve often been told India is very religiously diverse. I guess it’s less like how Lebanon is religiously diverse with different religions making large percentages of the population and more like how Canada is religiously diverse with many small groups with distinct religions

Wait, only a couple tiny provinces in north India have Muslim majority?
I always though it’s almost 50:50 is some places near Pakistan border

Is that giant grey area on the border of India and Pakistan just a giant tidal/flood plain? It’s shown as land here but on the map it looks like water.

Latest census is gonna show a lot more green and blue and a lot less red, orange, and cyan.

Imagine if Pakistan India and Bangladesh remained as one and there were no partitions ? It would be crazy seeing the religious diversity spread around the subcontinent.

I wonder if itd be possible to see this map but instead of a binary color choice showing simple religous majority more of a spectrum to reflect the diversity and significant minorities in each state for each country (Adding Bangladesh also)

Why does Gujarat have those uninhabited subdivisions? Why aren’t they combined with nearby inhabited ones?

I was suprised not to see Jainism. I guess it’s a lot smaller than I thought.

Fun fact
Jammu was also muslim majority before muslims were driven out in an exodus. That led to the irregulars from Poonch and the Pakistani Army intervening in 47

I’m always so intrigued by those smaller religions. What are those people like, what are their beliefs. Would love to travel there.

Why that green region close to Bangladesh, weren’t considered as part of Bangladesh at partition?

Where’s Jainism and Zoroastrianism ?

Abrahamic religions don’t make sense to me. I mean, why does God need to send unbelievers to eternal hell? He is infinite. He is and has everything. He is self-satisfied.

Wait…Did Odisha really have that much christian population in it’s south area?I have lived here all of my life still has no idea this much land is only Christians and what is that saranaism religion… I am hearing the name for the first time, can somebody explain who are they ? If that big of a group exist, why i have had no clue about them since childhood… Do they hide their religion or something?

MusIims make up around 15% of India’s population, and their population is growing rapidly. They are allowed to marry multiple wíves, have multiple kíds, have their own personal law board, and can make claims on land under the Wàqf Act.
On the other hand, the Híndu and Chrístian populations in Pakístan and BangIadesh have been declining. Either they are force converted, get kiIIed.

This is what majority only erases: the fact that 200+ million Muslims live in India.

And those orange regions feel threatened by the teeny-tiny blue regions in the map. What a hypocrisy!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

there is not a single area only belonging to atheists ? Makes you wonder that all of India is surviving on one or the other religious beliefs and on the other hand the other big giant china is majorly atheists. Probably the reason of difference between development of both the countries. Crazy.
