* There is a systemic enforcement crisis across various sectors in Canada, including airport security, port operations, and commercial trucking.
* A recent investigation revealed security lapses at Pearson Airport, where an employee with a long history of police investigation was able to participate in a $22 million gold heist.
* Similar failures were identified at the Port of Montreal regarding auto theft and in Ontario’s commercial truck licensing system, plagued by fraud and corruption.
* Despite record government spending, Canada struggles to enforce basic laws, leading to declining public trust in government institutions.
* There is a lack of clear responsibility and accountability among various institutions. Each agency points to another’s mandate, creating gaps where organized crime can operate. This is exemplified by the airport security failures, where Transport Canada, airlines, and CATSA all deflect responsibility.
* There are also inadequate background checks, falsified training records, and a lack of information sharing between government bodies as contributing factors.

You can’t say “bomb” in an airport enforcement report.

Enforcement requires a lot of work, which the government doesn’t want to fund. The government has too ways to waste money.

Let’s say you have pizza shop and you predominantly serve young kids, young families, and have some take out business. Now let’s say some clubs open up, some new high schools open..and the demand and tastes completely change. Usually new shops open to meet the demand but in government that isn’t an option. Instead it takes about two years to “re-tool” even if leadership is on it but remember…Canadian national institutional leadership was trained and “steeped” doing things a certain way. We have the public and elected leaders that want change and new ideas from people that have been trained to avoid novel ideas, to deliver results, not innovate.

Insanity. Aggravating. Depressing.
I’ve basically given up. Our government doesn’t work and it never will.

Our law makers aren’t serious enough on crime. If you can get away with corruption and have the opportunity, criminals will take the chance 9/10. Especially if you join and job and know people are getting away with it for years. You turn a blind eye or just go along with the flow. I don’t see this changing till a new government comes in.
