DUPONT — Police in Dupont charged a man from Germany after he was allegedly caught with a 16-year-old girl reported missing inside a a hotel room on Sunday.
Fabian Leon Machon, 21, of Hanover, Germany, met the girl while playing online games and had conversations with her on Discord, an online app, according to court records.
Machon traveled from Germany, had two lay-overs, and arrived at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport where he leased a Lyft ride share to meet the girl in Wilkes-Barre, court records say.
Court records say Machon claimed they were given a ride to a hotel in Dupont where they engaged in sexual relations before police knocked on the door.
The girl was reported missing to Wilkes-Barre City police on Sunday.
Machon was arraigned by District Judge Brian Tupper of Kingston Township on a single count of corruption of minors. He was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility without bail as he was deemed a flight risk.
According to the criminal complaint:
Wilkes-Barre City police investigating a missing persons report received information the girl may be in the company of Machon.
Police in Dupont assisted by a Duryea police officer went to the Best Western Hotel on Concorde Drive and learned Machon had leased a room on the fifth floor.
After knocking several times, officers heard a toilet flush before Machon opened the door, the complaint says.
Police found the girl inside the hotel room.
During an interview with police after being given his Miranda rights, Machon claimed he met the girl while playing online games and conversed with her on Discord.
Machon said discussions with the girl about meeting in-person began in March 2026, and he planned to to the area on May.
The complaint alleges Machon admitted he boarded a plane in Germany, had two lay-overs before he arrived at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport at about 8:45 p.m. Saturday.
Machon told police, the complaint says, the original plan was for the girl to meet him at the airport but the girl asked him to meet her near her Wilkes-Barre residence.
Machon ordered a Lyft ride-share that took him to Wilkes-Barre and waited outside her residence, the complaint says.
After the girl met Machon, the complaint alleges, they went to a fast food restaurant on East Northampton Street, Wilkes-Barre, and talked about where to go. After several failed attempts to lease a hotel room, Machon claimed an unknown person he met on the street called several hotels and found a hotel with an open room in Dupont where they were given a ride, the complaint alleges.
