It increasingly feels like Danielle Smith is just in way over her head and starting to get burned by the fire she stoked and built over the last few years.
Already half of Alberta thinks she should resign and one third of her own party does. For a while it was looking like she would break the streak of conservative premiers being ousted before the next election but now I would say it’s 50/50 that she’s ultimately forced out.
Must not have been the friendliest gathering of Western premiers in recent years. Just throwing [this quote](https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/western-premiers-meeting-day-2-smith-eby-9.7212224) into the mix as well:
>“Let’s remember these ports are not British Columbia’s ports, they’re Canada’s ports, and in being Canada’s ports, that means they’re our ports too,” Smith said. “In the spirit of collaboration, that’s the attitude that all premiers should take to this.”
*That* is the attitude Smith is taking in negotiations with Carney, while none of the other premiers who should get on board with this ‘spirit of collaboration’ are even involved.
