I see a vague, overly positive, borderline propaganda headline about Finland and I don’t even have to open it to know exactly who posted it.

I am sure the wealthy and the moderate income folks can’t complain. Sucks if you’re poor though. Latest enshittification example was closing the health center in my part of the city so the closest doctors are now at the opposite sides of the town so people have to travel by a bus quite a while whether sick or injured.

The report was written in Finland, during summer, after sauna, coffee, and salary day

It’s quite revealing how shitty it has to be elsewhere if this is the best the world has to offer

we are not some halfbaked shang ri la. that creates expectations and makes people disappointed because we basically are written by Kaurismäki after being depressed by reading too much F. Kafka.

But behind UK and Germany in the overall ranking 😱

If I call the cops, the fire department or the plumber I can trust they will come and do their job properly.
I can fairly safely walk home at night as a woman without being escorted.
A lot of bad luck and mishaps has to happen before I am out on the street with completely no food or shelter. (recently this has shifted to worse. Thanks government!)
Clean nature is not very far away. 15minute walk and I am in a forested area. 30 minute bikeride and I am in the woods in the woods. Probably a nice lake there too.
Easy access to drinkable water. Easy access to electricity.
Free public libraries open all days.
Walkable cities with not much congestion in traffic.
Clean air.
Ofcourse there is suffering here just like everywhere else in the world. There’s poverty, the job situation is a shitshow and healthcare is less than optimal.
But it could be so much worse. So so much worse.

I would have thought that Denmark, Netherlands and Norway are ahead of us. Probably are, in reality. But that just means that they’re doing really good.

The comments in these posts always prove that even though QOL is high people are miserable anyway.
