A particularly large amount of narcotic substance – marijuana – has been detected and removed from illegal circulation as a result of customs control measures carried out by employees of the Balakan Customs Administration, APA-Economics reports, citing the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan.
At the “Mazimgara” customs post, a vehicle transporting a cargo of watermelons from the Islamic Republic of Iran to Georgia was inspected using a stationary X-ray device, and suspicious traces were observed in the cargo, prompting a thorough inspection.
During the inspection carried out with the use of a canine service dog, a total of 110 kilograms and 300 grams of a particularly large amount of narcotic substance – marijuana – along with packaging hidden from customs control using special methods, was discovered at the bottom of the boxes containing the “watermelon” cargo
An investigation into the incident is underway.
