A bit of history about previous governors:
By accepting the Maastricht Agreement in 1994, Croatia lost its monetary sovereignty and its central bank, which has now become just a big money changer for foreign banks, and lost its primary role. All the money that now enters Croatia, enters as debt. We do not print kuna, we lend them with interest. Former governor Škreb, at the urging of the IMF, abolished all functions of the National Bank and as a reward became the director of the IMF for Albania.
By tying the kuna exchange rate to the euro and setting an unrealistically high exchange rate that does not favor production and exports, the CNB destroyed domestic production and exports, and provided importers with extra profits. Former CNB governor Željko Rohatinski accepted Agrokor’s offer and on August 7, 2012 became an advisor to Ivica Todorić, who happens to be the largest importer in the Republic of Croatia.
For selling Croatian gold ($220-240 per ounce) and allowing CHF loans, Banker magazine (belongs to the Financial Times group of publications) awarded Rohatinski the best governor of Europe and the best central banker of the year 2008 on a global scale.
The current governor of the CNB, Vujčić, just continued in the footsteps of his mentor and is not at all ashamed to openly lobby for the interests of foreign banks, and against the interests of the citizens of this country who pay him every month.
