Doug Ford can go fuck himself. He legalized the commercials that led to the rise of online gambling.

As such Doug Ford is directly responsible for destroying many many lives. This is one aspect of how he has made Ontario worse for all but the rich.

By looking closely, do they mean looking at how they can bring in more tax revenues?

Making online betting and other forms of widely available and then acting surprised by the outcome. Kind of like someone buying a jet and then acting surprised and indignant when cancellation cost money.

I think a total ban on gambling advertising would make sporting events much more enjoyable to watch on tv. The gambling company’s are thumbing their noses at the ban on celebrities in the ads as well. It would be lovely to charge them and fine them.

    5. too late. it’s already imbedded in every aspect of sports.

they crossed the final line when they started having the broadcasters give out gambling tips.

      So, how this progresses?
      Indifferent –> profiting –> looking closely –> investigating –> fined –> punished

    7. Gambling is the most highly correlated addiction with suicide. Gambling addicts are men 6/7 times on average.

This is a “Killing and impoverishing young men is acceptable” policy.

Shame on these businesses, politicians, the celebrities, and the athletes that don’t give a shit as long as they get their paycheck.

Fuck all of them. They made society much more dangerous for my young boys.

Wtf is there to look at… ban the fucking ads it’s getting annoying. There everywhere! Sometimes I get 3 different apps for commercials all back to back wtf!

Why did they spend money on ‘this is how we protect Ontario’ ads? ‘Building new jails is how we keep Ontario safe,  this is how we protect Ontario’.

They didn’t need to spend ad money on that.  They need to fund schools,  hospitals, affordable housing and fix the justice system.  Building new jails isn’t going to make Ontario safer, we need a better justice system and better programs

Gee. I can’t help but notice how Doug is ruining healthcare, mental healthcare is super long wait (unless private), but he’s increasing liquor availability, there’s a weed or vape shop in every plaza and corner, and a rise in gambling/sports betting. Housing is difficult to get/afford. Is Doug trying to ruin us?!?!

Obviously the answer is yes …. But get him a jet. He dESeRvEs it.

lol what a joke. Fairclough the liberal MPP just put forward proposed legislation and the PCs shot it down. The house adjourns for summer in a week. This isn’t an urgent issue for them this is a gesture

This government has been attempting to expand gambling in the Ontario and ignores all evidence that any of the economic benefits of gambling are drowned in a sea of misery created by gambling. The neighbourhoods surrounding casinos are dystopias. The advertising and policies to reduce the harm of gambling addiction are just theatre. They are designed to be ineffective. As addicts are the most profitable “customers”.

    13. Maybe Ontario shouldn’t be so active in ensuring gambling is easy and accessible. So ridiculous to say they’re concerned when they are the ones who gamified it.

What exactly is there to look at? This is an absolute no brainer.

Ban all sports betting and gambling advertising like we do with cigarettes: It’s one thing to have legal gambling, it’s another entirely to shamelessly plug it constantly on every medium. Especially those frequented by children.

You don’t need to look very hard, they are everywhere. Literally can’t get away from the betting ads. It’s despicable to be honest. The amount of young individuals that are going to have life long struggles with gambling. When I was young there were active campaigns warning of the possible issues with gambling. Now if you’re not placing a bet you might as well not even watch the game according to a few people I know.
