• Germany is predicted to be a 3.5-goal favorite against Curacao.
    • Including qualifiers, Germany has won each of its last five World Cup matches.
    • My Germany vs Curacao prediction is the Germany Goal Line (-3.5, -120).

Previous World Cup winner Germany starts its 2026 tournament against lowly Curacao.

Julian Nagelsmann brings his team to the World Cup in strong form. The Germans, excluding its pre-tourmanent friendlies, have won five straight matches.

Curacao, which sits 82nd in the FIFA rankings, has dropped two straight. That includes a 5-1 defeat against Australia in March.

    Curacao vs Germany Prediction

Based on Curacao’s lack of experience against top-tier competition and Germany’s offensive record recently, my Germany vs Curacao prediction is the Germany Goal Line (-3.5, -120).

    Germany (-3.5) @ -120

Germany can basically name their margin in this match. With goal differential carrying a small level of importance, I expect they’ll let off at no point against inferior competition.

Remember the 2022 World Cup match featuring Spain and Costa Rica? This match is basically an even heavier mismatch of that fixture.

Spain won 7-0 on Matchday 1 without allowing a shot. According to underlying metrics, Spain produced a +3.5 expected goal differential and +4.5 post-shot xGDiff, per FotMob.

Only once since 2023 has Curacao played a top-10 team by FIFA rankings. In a friendly against Argentina, Curacao fell 7-0 with Lionel Messi notching a first-half hat trick.

The fact Australia scored five against this defense is mind-boggling and provides another signal that Curacao should struggle against Germany.

Germany showed that, under Nagelsmann, the attack can thrive on cue. Evidence of that belief is a 5-0 win over Hungary, a 7-0 win over Bosnia and a 6-0 win over Slovakia.

If there’s a slight concern, it’s that all of those performances came within the German border. A 4-3 win at Switzerland offers some encouragement off eight big scoring chances.

Lastly, I’m applying some betting calculus to this prediction. As of this writing, Germany to win by four or more is -120, whereas Germany over 3.5 goals is -150.

Add in both teams to score – “no” is nearly -300, and I predict the favorites win going away.
