    DVB-I Book Germany published

The introduction of DVB-I in Germany has achieved a key milestone. The DVB-I Round Table has approved the DVB-I Book Germany, which defines the key principles for the implementation of DVB-I in the German market. The Round Table includes broadcasters, broadcasters’ associations, TV set manufacturers and the regulatory authority.

“DVB-I offers simple and direct access to commercial and public service TV content via streaming (internet) without the need for additional apps,” commented Dr Thorsten Schmiege, President of the Bavarian Regulatory Authority for New Media (BLM) and Chair of the DVB-I Round Table. “DVB-I is intended to ensure the availability and findability of traditional broadcast content and linear TV – in a future-oriented way and independent of the commercial interests of individual gatekeepers.”

The DVB-I Book Germany defines a technical, regulatory and organisational framework for implementation. Content providers and equipment manufacturers can participate in DVB-I in accordance with the established, non-discriminatory framework.

The basis for this is the DVB-I Technical Implementation Profile of the DTVP (German TV Platform), which was published in close collaboration with the DVB-I Round Table and with the involvement of numerous international experts.

The aim is to create a consistent user experience and an interoperable ecosystem in line with regulatory requirements. This is intended to ensure a level playing field for the television market in Germany.
