US Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle hosted the birthday celebration of former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani at Jefferson House in Athens on Saturday with members of the Greek government attending.
Following the celebration, the US ambassador made the following post on X:
“It was a privilege to host a celebration for my dear friend Mayor Rudy Giuliani at Jefferson House last night on the occasion of his 82nd birthday. Rudy is not just a great friend to @POTUS. He also holds a special place in America’s heart for his unwavering leadership following the September 11 attacks. I wish America’s Mayor good health, happiness, and many joyful years ahead!”
Several members of the Greek government were invited to attend the joyous event. Namely, Minister of Development, Takis Theodorikakos, Minister of Infrastructure and Transportation, Christos Demas, Minister of National Defense, Nikos Dendias, and Deputy Minister of Transportation, Konstantinos Kyranakis joined the celebration dinner.

Giuliani in Bulgaria
On Friday, the US ambassador accompanied Rudy Giuliani to Sofia, Bulgaria and held talks with President Iliana Yotova, Energy Minister Iva Petrova, and other Bulgarian officials. According to the ambassador, discussions focused on opportunities to advance shared energy priorities and strengthen regional cooperation.
“The United States is working with Greece, Bulgaria, and other partners in the region to advance a shared vision for energy security along the Vertical Gas Corridor,” Guilfoyle wrote on X.
Giuliani has been one of President Trump’s closest political allies for many years and previously served as Trump’s personal attorney. The meetings in Bulgaria reportedly focused on energy security in Southeast Europe, particularly cooperation among the United States, Greece, and Bulgaria. Giuliani has previously been involved in international consulting and advisory work and has longstanding connections in political and business circles.
US President Donald Trump ‘will hopefully visit Greece in 2026’
Earlier in May, the US Ambassador to Athens said that President Donald Trump “will hopefully visit Greece in 2026.” The US diplomat expressed her belief during a visit to the headquarters of Greece’s national public broadcaster ERT in Athens. Speaking to journalists, she said Trump will hopefully travel to Greece before the end of the year.
Guilfoyle added that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Secretary of State Marco Rubio could be part of a visit to Greece, without giving further details.
